Deepika Padukone has reached a stage in her career where all the other actresses look up to her, some with jealousy, some with yearning. Many are inspired by her determination, will-power and happy-go-lucky persona.

It came as a shock to many when in an open session, she revealed that for a majority of her career, she was suffering from depression. While addressing the psychological issue, she talked about her struggle on national television last year.

In order to remove the social evil from the roots, she has also started a foundation called ‘The Live Love Laugh’ to help the ones who are currently suffering from depression. The actress has once again brought up the mental stigma at the India Economic Summit in Delhi yesterday.

Deepika has time and again talked about battling depression since 2016 but only a few are aware that the beautiful actress fears that the disorder might relapse. The actress was recently shooting for the period film, 'Padmavati', the jauhar scene in which highly disturbed her.

At the summit, she said, "I don't think I can say that I'm completely over it (depression). There is always a fear at the back of my mind that I might have a relapse because it has been such a bad experience for me."

Clinical depression has taken a great toll on her career as well. Deepika believes that many producers didn't offer her films during her depression phase which stagnated her success for a while.

Deepika affirmed, "Maybe there are people who haven't offered me films because they think I was depressed and I can't act. Maybe, I don't know. I'm in a good space because I can choose the movies that I want to act in, but I don't think everyone has that luxury of where they want to work or when they want to work."

While talking about her initiative, Padukone said, "The idea really was to change the way people in India and the world see mental illness."

Deepika Padukone will next be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Padmavati' along will Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. She will be seen playing the warrior queen of chittore in the film which is slated to release on December 1.
