In a statement given to IANS, the actor said, "It is extremely rare and overwhelming to get this kind of love from the audience. I’m grateful and touched that everyone has been so appreciative of my performance" as most of the people had told him that a hero shouldn’t play the anti-hero role.

While the critics applauded Ranveer Singh's anti-hero avatar, many gave him the best villain title of Bollywood because of his performance.

The actor said,” I saw Khilji as a challenge for me, as an actor and I wanted to take the challenge up. I went with the vision of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and my instinct of what I could achieve with Khilji. I am happy that the audiences are seeing and loving a character that both Sanjay sir and I have worked on tirelessly for over two years to bring to life.”

According to him, this kind of validation gives one the confidence to take bigger and bigger risks, challenge stereotypes and continue to push the envelope in the realm of mainstream Hindi Cinema. He said,” I feel very happy and much fulfilled today.”

Well, the whole country knows that the movie came on the screens after too many controversies and protests by the Karni Sena over the alleged distortion of facts in the movie. Still, the movie made more than Rs 50 net worth in just two days.
