Two of Tollywood's superstars Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth might have made their debut in politics but their certain politically incorrect statements have landed their forthcoming films in trouble. Pertaining to Thalaiva's comments on Cauvery row, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce had banned Kaala from releasing in Karnataka.

Superstar Rajnikanth had supported the formation of Cauvery Management Board which ignited protests by Pro-Kannada outfits against the release of Kaala by theatre owners and distributors. Vatal Nagaraj’s Kannada Okkoota along with nine more organizations approached KFCC on Tuesday to ban Kaala.

Apparently, Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film 'Vishwaroopam 2' has also been dragged into the mess as he also urged in various interactions to establish Cauvery Management Board. The distributors and exhibitors who have invested millions into buying the film rights have backed out off screening both the film to maintain peace in the state.

Confirming the decision, Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha president Vatal Nagaraj told TOI, "We will not allow the release of any old or new films of Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan until they apologise and withdraw their remarks, which are against our interests in the sharing of the Cauvery water with Tamil Nadu and other states."

Controversy against the release of Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan's films will cost the producers of Kaala, Vishwaroopam 2, 2.0, Indian 2 and Superstar's untitled film with Karthik Subbaraj around Rs 30-40 crore of business. Pro-Kannada outfits had earlier protested against the release of 'Baahubali 2' and only calmed down when Sathyaraj apologised for his earlier statement.

Despite the uproar, Rajnikanth refuses to apologise for his statement as it would affect his political career. While leaving for Tuticorin to meet the family members of the Sterlite protest victims, he said, "South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce will discuss with Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce to find an amicable solution on Kaala release"
