The long awaited Game of Thrones season 7 finally made its debut on Sunday. Episode 1 carried a special treat for fans of singer Ed Sheeran, whose recent song 'Shape of You' has been a phenomenal hit.

Roughly 39 minutes into the first episode, Sheeran made his musical debut, with his unnamed character singing a campsite song as young Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) was riding through the forest.

"For hands of gold are always cold, but a woman's hands are warm," the Sheeran sang, while sitting with a group of soldiers who had stopped for a food break before heading to the Riverlands.

"It's a pretty song, I've never heard it before," Arya says.

"It's a new one," Sheeran replied.

Last month, Sheeran had spoken about his famed cameo on the fantasy-saga Game of Thrones.

"Nothing exciting happens in this scene, we just have a conversation and that's kind of it," he had said, admitting that he felt his cameo "has been build up too much".

Correspondingly, even fans felt a bit of a let down on his minimal role.

Sheeran became the latest in a string of musicians having appeared on the Game of Thrones, such as Coldplay’s Will Champion, Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody and Sigur Ros.
