The Supreme Court of India allowed the candidates crossing the age limit i.e. 25 and above (30 and above in case of reserved categories) to take the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2019 on Thursday.
The reason given by the court was that the younger students are at a disadvantage as the older candidates can appear for NEET as many times as they wish.
SC also asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to extend the application deadline by one week. Earlier, the last date to apply for NEET 2019 examination was November 30.
From 2019 onward several entrance exams have been handed over to National Testing Agency (NTA) which was constituted for the sole purpose of conducting entrance and competitive exams and relieve other bodies such as CBSE of these duties.
As per the exam schedule available on the official website of NTA NEET, NEET UG 2019 exam will be conducted on May 5, 2019, from 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM. Candidates will be able to download their admit card from April 15, 2019.
For the admission to medical and dental courses for candidates will be subject to the final outcome of the case. The next hearing will take place in February.
