For DU Admission, General Needs 94 While SC-ST Students Need '0' Marks

The Delhi University has set the entrance exam minimum marks required for PhD admissions to be zero for students belonging to Schedule Cast and Schedule Tribe categories.

Yes, if someone belongs to SC or ST tribes, they don’t need to score anything in their entrance exam for admission the most meritorious educational qualification that too in the most prestigious universities as well.

The department’s eligibility criterion has attracted criticism on social media, once again raising the questions on reservation relevance in modern times.

A Facebook user said, “Those who have scored zero will do Ph.D. and teach you! Seriously? A Zero?”

The minimum criteria for general category are 94 marks out of 200, 84 for applicants belonging to OBC category while its zero for applicants belonging to the SC and ST categories.

According to the University schedule uploaded on their official website, 223 applicants have been invited for interviews under these criteria.

Head of Math Department, Delhi University said, “There are no minimum marks for SC, ST students". He said, “We have to call everyone for the interview. Final selection will be based on the performance in the interview.”
