Zaheer Khan Turns 39, Birthday Wishes Pour On The Internet

Famous for his quirky birthday wishes and online banters, former Indian striker Virender Sehwag has made it into the news wishing the retired left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan on his birthday.

Having played several matches with the player, Sehwag has personal relations with the Indian pacer. Both of them are known to be good friends and were compatible even on the field.

In the birthday wish that came via Twitter, the cricketer wished his fellow player by saying "one of India's greatest ever bowler" and "person with the sharpest cricketing brain".

"Happy Birthday to one of India's greatest ever bowler and one of the sharpest cricketing brain, Gyaan Baba @ImZaheer #LastBachelorsBirthday," the star batsman tweeted.

Zaheer Khan, who is about to tie knots with actress Sagarika Ghatge, turned 39 on Saturday.

Wishes poured on social media as all the star cricketers rushed to social media websites to wish the cricketer birthday. The names include the likes of VVS Laxman, Ajinkya Rahane and Aakash Chopra among others.

VVS Laxman tweeted, "Happy birthday to a wily bowler, wonderful man and a great friend @ImZaheer. Have a great year Zak!"

"Wishing the 'Sachin Tendulkar' of Indian fast bowling a very happy Birthday…have a good one ZK,” tweeted Aakash Chopra.

One of the key players in the 2011 World Cup, Zaheer Khan had a huge role to play in the country's victory. Mentoring the young players, Khan had snatched a total of 21 wickets in the tournament.

Retired in 2015, Zaheer Khan has had a productive run in his cricket career. He took 311 wickets in 92 Tests and 282 ODI wickets in 200 matches. He has also played 17 Twenty20 Internationals for the country.
