IPL 2018: Gautam Gambhir To Lead Delhi Daredevils For The Second Time!

Delhi boy Gautam Gambhir marks his return to Delhi Daredevils by retaking the captaincy for the GMR team in the upcoming IPL season. He started his IPL career with the Delhi franchise and captained the team in the last two seasons he was there.

In 2011, he joined Kolkata Knight Riders after the players auction, becoming the most sought player at the time. Under his captaincy, the team won two IPL titles and also made it to three other play-off stages. Even though his place in the International was under scrutiny, Gambhir consistently answered his critics by performing on the pitch.

Gautam Gambhir's performance in the 2016 edition of IPL and further omission from Indian squad was a talking point. Even though the southpaw batsman scored 500 runs in the season, still he wasn’t selected in the International squad.

But, this is a return to his hometown and his home team completing a full-circle. He was bought for 2.8 crores at the IPL 2018 auctions.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Gautam Gambhir claimed he is more excited than he has ever been and the fact that the team is as good as the captain.

Delhi Daredevils have had a few forgetful outings in the recent IPL seasons, and are looking to turn over a new leaf with a refreshed squad.
