Faf du Plessis Dons The Captain's Cap, To Lead South Africa In All Formats

South African Skipper, Faf du Plessis is all ready to replace AB de Villiers and lead the South African Cricket team in all the three formats of the game. Since 2013, he was already leading the team in T20 format and accepted the Test captaincy last year.

The 33-year-old will now also lead the team in ODIs. Having played 43 Tests, 113 ODIs and 36 T20 international matches for South Africa, Plessis was confirmed as the new ODI skipper on Monday.

Currently leading the team in World XI in T20 internationals against Pakistan, his first job as the ODI captain will be to lead the team against Bangladesh on home ground next month. The series with consist two Tests, three ODIs and three T20s.

Upon Plessis' appointment, Cricket South Africa’s chief executive officer, Haroon Lorgat stated, "He has established himself as one of the best leaders in world cricket and this was reflected in his appointment as the captain of the World XI currently engaged in the T20 Series against Pakistan."

Haroon has earlier expressed his best wishes by stating, "Congratulations to Faf on his appointment as the natural successor to the ODI leadership."

Former captain, AB de Villiers has confirmed his presence in all the three format matches after being absent from the Test matches for a long time.
