The batting legend Virender Sehwag is ready to take over the field for Kings XI Punjab in the team's first match in the 11th season of Indian Premier League against Delhi Daredevils. However, the batsman will only play for one match to make up for the absence of Aaron Finch.

But obviously, something is better than nothing. The retired player last batted at the recent Ice Cricket matches in St Moritz where he scored a smacking 62 off 31 in the first match and 46 off 22 balls in the second match. Now, Sehwag is ready to show some of his batting skills.

Giving out an official statement, the official Twitter handle of Kings XI Punjab wrote, "You're in for a real treat. Virender Sehwag will take the field in Vivo IPL once again, replacing Aaron Finch for the season opener. It's deja vu all over again," and attached an official statement along.

The unexpected news has raised the level of excitement for many of Sehwag's ardent fans but they are requested to hold their horses as there are high chances of this announcement turning out as a mere prank, given that the statement has been released on the April Fools' Day.

Moreover, IPL authorities don't allow the unregistered players to play or replace any specific players in any of the matches and given Sehwag's history of pulling pranks on social media, there are high chances of the news being faux. The point about him opening also raises the red flags.

Ever since the Aussie player Aaron Finch announced his unavailability in the opening match due to his impending marriage on April 7, the team has been pondering over the right person to replace him and then head coach Brad Hodge's joking suggestion turned an historic moment.
