The global taxi-hailing company, Uber has been flourishing in the Indian markets due to various reasons, including their attractive plans. In another attempt to claim the major customer base, the company has re-launched is Auto services in India.

Uber has shut down its Auto services in March 2016 due to unknown reasons but the constant demand from the customers has prompted the company to bring back the service in India, starting with Bengaluru and Pune.

The US-based brand has been in a war with the home-grown brand Ola for a long time, which will supposedly intensely with Uber's recent move. The India-based taxi hailing company is offering the Auto-booking facility in Bengaluru and Chennai since 2014.

While Ola Auto is operational across 73 cities with over 1.2 lakh autos associated with the company, Uber will jump back in the field with a completely fresh background. The company has earlier "paused" the service "to see how that side of India's transport ecosystem evolves".

Uber's Auto services were earlier available in New Delhi, Coimbatore, Indore and Bhubaneshwar. "Auto rickshaws are ubiquitous to mobility options in many Indian cities. To expand transportation choices for our riders, we are excited to launch AUTO in Bengaluru and Pune," an Uber spokesperson told PTI.

"We are re-launching AUTO starting with two cities. Gradual geographical expansion like this is common to how we operate in cities around the world and it is something that we are looking at very closely," the spokesperson added.

Uber will allow the customers to avail all the safety features available for its cab rides and will be able to make payments via cash, Paytm and debit/credit cards. Uber will only take the licensed auto-drivers on-board, who have been screened and accredited by the authorities.
