Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be meeting with top officials of all states and union territories on Monday for expediting development work as less than 2 years remain for the next Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
At the conference, States' performances on development indicators will also be released as the centre is keen to remove regional imbalances and disparity by ensuring better coordination between the centre and the states.
In a presentation by NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant at the conference, best and worst performing states across different development parameters will be highlighted.
On Sunday itself PM Modi had detailed discussions with key officials regarding the conference on 'States as Drivers for Transforming India'.
Although PM Modi has been interacting with state-level officials on a regular basis on the PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance And Timely Implementation) platform for monitoring of development works the new meeting will focus on expediting development work.
Also to be discussed at the day-long meeting are agricultural reforms to address farmers concerns across the country, universal health coverage, less-cash economy and ranking on the ease of doing business and direct benefits transfers.
