Following the months of speculations, the Walt Disney Company has finally acquired the 21st Century Fox, almost. With the acquisition of $52.4 billion, the step has brought Fox into the league of Pixar, Star Wars, and most of the non-X-Men parts of the Marvel universe.

The deal will likely change the face of entertainment and video streaming as Disney now has shares in services like Amazon, Netflix and Hulu. The change might not be immediate but is imminent. Earlier reports suggested that Disney was planning to launch its own streaming service in 2019.

The company has earlier claimed that the platform will be used to stream its Marvel and Star Wars films along with other new series, an announcement which made the Disney admirers jump with joy. Now, the addition of Fox series (aired or unaired) will also likely be included.

With the amount of content, Disney will have to stream, a flourishing future is promised. Also, since the company is planning on introducing the streaming platform with a monthly cost, it will attract Netflix audience due to cheaper videos.

The acquisition has dropped The X-Men universe including the Deadpool and Wolverine movies and powerhouse franchises like Avatar, Planet of the Apes, Alien, and Die Hard in Disney's lap. The family-friendly series like Ice Age and Alvin & The Chipmunks will also be included among others.

However, the collaboration might prompt the other major studios to go directly to consumers instead of relying on aggregators like Netflix and Amazon. A customer needs options and the possibility of them leaving a platform due to the emergence of another service is unlikely.
