Prices Drop By Over A Crore On Supercars In Mumbai

Those who can afford a Supercar and live in Mumbai can rejoice as the prices of supercars have dropped by almost a crore.

Usually, people of Mumbai get their cars registered from other states where the registration charges are lesser and usually it is either Pondicherry or Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DN) / Jharkhand (JH) that levy a 3 per cent road tax on the ex-showroom value of the car.

That's only because Mumbai levied 24.5 per cent in terms of taxes (20 per cent road tax and 4.5 percent Octroi), which meant registering a few exotic cars in the city cost as much as a good 2BHK apartment in the city.

But now the people who are looking to buy a supercar in Mumbai can relax as they will not have to pay as much taxes which will make a huge difference for anybody who is looking to buy a supercar.

Earlier tax structure:

Lamborghini Aventador S

Ex-showroom:  5,01,00,000

Road Tax (20% of ex-showroom): 1,00,20,000

Octroi (4.5% of ex-showroom): 22,54,500

On-Road Price (Excluding Insurance): 6,23,74,500

With the Rs 20 lakh cap in place:

 Lamborghini Aventador S

Ex-showroom: 5,01,00,000

Road Tax: 20,00,000

Octroi    -

On-Road Price (Excluding Insurance): 5,21,00,000

Total savings amount to Rs 1,02,74,500. Owning an Aventador S in Mumbai has become cheaper by a little over Rs 1 crore.
