Ducati has launched their new Scrambler Desert Sled that shares the same host of features along with all new set of upgrades.
The upgrade involves a modified frame and high mounted suspension, mesh guard around the headlight, engine skid plate for better off-road capability, gold finished wheels creating an elegant contrast along with the 19 and 17-inch front and rear Pirelli Scorpion Rally Str tyres.
As per the rider convenience, the seat has been position higher than the previous version; however, a 20 mm low seat option can be purchased separately. The bike has new off-road style foot pegs with removable rubber pads.
The Scrambler Desert Sled uses the same engine as the standard Scrambler also used in recently launched Ducati Monster 797. It powers from the Euro 4 compliant 803 cc engine that produces 74 bhp at 8250 rpm with a maximum torque of 68 Nm at 5750 rpm.
Ducati India – Managing Editor, Sergi Canovas Garriga, talking about the new bike said, “We've introduced for the first time in India, a motorcycle in the 'easy off-road' category. Staying true to the Scrambler family and inspiration from the '60s and '70s, California motorcycle scene, the Desert Sled reinforces the pure essence of motorcycling: two wheels, wide handlebars, a straightforward engine and endless fun. The bike is perfect for the city and to get off the tarmac and explore the road less traveled.”
Ducati, along with Desert Sled, has also announced the comeback of Scrambler Icon and Scrambler Classic in Euro 4/BS4 guise after the BS3 was discontinued in the country with new standard coming in effect under Supreme Court order.
Ducati has announced the deliveries will start next week while bookings are already ongoing. The Icon is priced Rs 7.23 lakh and the Classic Rs 8.48 lakh (ex-showroom prices). Currently, the bike has outlets in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad and Kochi that will be catering the sales and service of the bikes.
